The Burnsville Area Learning Center (BALC) is a collection of programs throughout Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 that provide addition support to meet the needs of all learners. These services are delivered primarily through extended day and extended year programs. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for students. At the K-4 Elementary Summer Program, students will be immersed in hands-on, project-based learning that focuses on exploring the natural world through integrating Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies. Themes by grade include:
Current Kindergarten Students: Cycles in Nature featuring the Butterfly Life Cycle
Current 1st Grade Students: Force and Motion in Nature featuring Experiments in Nature
Current 2nd Grade Students: Minnesota Ecosystems featuring Worms, Lizards, and Snails
Current 3rd Grade Students: Pollination Power featuring Experiments in Nature and Growing Plants
Current 4th Grade Students: Natural Resources featuring Conservation, Preservation, and Pollution Activities
Grades 5 -7 Summer Program
At the Middle School 5-7 Summer Program, courses are geared toward themes that align with our high school pathways, including Robotics Design and Sphero Ball programming. Math, Reading and Writing, and Student Choice Time are also a part of each school day.

STEM Success Academy (Current 8th Grade Students)
Current 8th Grade students have the opportunity to participate in STEM Success Academy, a summer program specifically designed to support students in their transition to Burnsville High School while also earning up to two high school credits.

Grades 9-12 Credit Recovery
