Special Education Advisory Council

Purpose of SEAC

The purpose of SEAC is to provide input on special education issues to the district and advise the district on the development of programs and services to meet the special education needs of children and families.

Vision:

The vision of the Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) is to serve as an advocate for students receiving special education services within the district through the Director of Student Support Services.

Five Year Priorities

  • Create SEAC website to provide information to families with students with disabilities
  • Increase awareness of and access to resources for parents

 

 

 

  • Organize and access community events to support parents with advocacy and resources
  • Engage in the existing District process to reach out to underserved communities
  • Define common language for inclusion practices among all staff
  • Promote an understanding among administrators of the special education service continuum 

 

  • Represent special education in all District communities
  • Become the model of excellence for all regional special education programs
  • Facilitate seamless education and inclusion practices to staff and students
  • Secure additional financial resources for District

 

 

NAMI Minnesota is hosting a free event at Black Hawk Middle School on April 29 from 8:30-3:15 p.m. for parents and caregivers of children and youth living with mental illness.
