Powerlifting, Olympic Weightlifting teams head to state under direction of new coach

In its first season, the Burnsville High School boys’ powerlifting team was crowned state champions, while the girls team earned runner-up at the USAPL Minnesota State High School Championships on Saturday, Feb. 10 in Rockford, Minn. In addition, five Blaze athletes won individual state titles, and seven lifters qualified for the National Championships in March.

Burnsville Olympic Weightlifting team wins fourth consecutive state varsity title, first junior varsity championship

The Burnsville Olympic Weightlifting Varsity team secured its fourth consecutive varsity state title on March 11 at Lakeville South High School. The junior varsity team (born 2001 or later) won its first state title.
Burnsville is the first team since 2004 to win both divisions in the same year.

BHS Olympic Weightlifting clinches third straight state title

The Burnsville Olympic Weightlifting team won the varsity state championship on Saturday, March 12 at Lakeville South High School. This was the third consecutive state championship for Burnsville.
The junior varsity team finished as the state runners-up.
Elena Pearce, Jordan Tompkins, Adonya Gray, Noah Bachmeier and Nick Burton all won individual state championships.

BHS Olympic Weightlifting team takes first at meet; Schiller sets new state record

The Burnsville Olympic Weightlifting team placed first at the Northfield meet on Saturday, Jan. 17. Michael Schiller set a new Minnesota state record (247 total kilograms or 543 pounds) in the varsity 77kg weight class by lifting 107kg (235 pounds) on the snatch and 140kg (308 pounds) on the clean and jerk.
