During the last week of school at Metcalf Middle, students were given an opportunity to take their shoes off for some science fun! For 6th grade science, student standards are for physical science. In order to better understand matter and properties such as elasticity, students were able to run across a kiddie pool of oobleck which is a non-Newtonian fluid.

Metcalf 8th grader Ellie Scheldberg was invited to present at the 2018 3M Young Innovators Conference, held on May 4 at 3M's main headquarters in Maplewood, Minn. The conference showcased the top awarded science fair projects from the 2018 Minnesota State Science Fair.
A comedy called “Road Trippin” is the spring theater production at Metcalf Middle School in Burnsville.
Written and directed by teacher and drama director Steven Orth, the play follows the misguided misadventures of four teens who “borrow” mom’s car and take off into the night on an unplanned and unlimited road trip across the American West.
The Metcalf Middle School Chess Team participated in the National Middle School Chess Championships in Atlanta, GA, April 6-8. Seventeen members attended along with two players from William Byrne Elementary.

Students in grades 6-8 from Eagle Ridge, Metcalf and Nicollet Middle Schools will be part of a modern dance concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 2, in the Mraz Center at Burnsville High School, 600 E. Highway 13.
The students have been part of an eight-week program working with professional teaching artists to create two pieces for the performance.
This event is made possible by the Modern Dance Project, a partnership that includes the Youth Dance Ensemble, the Burnsville Youth Collaborative and Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 Community Education.
Middle school students in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 will have instant access to the vast resources of two county library systems — without having to worry about overdue fines — through a collaboration that expands on Feb. 12.
A poster about peace created by Hailey Erickson, an eighth-grader at Metcalf Middle School, is getting attention.
First, Hailey’s poster won the District 5 Lions Club Peace Poster contest. Then it won the regional multiple-district contest (which included Minnesota and Canadian areas) and earned cash prizes. Now it’s on the way to the Lions Club International competition in Chicago.
Parents of future middle school students are invited to attend an upcoming "Explore Middle School" event at any of the three middle schools in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191.
These events will provide opportunities for parent and students to learn how the district's middle schools help students explore their academic interests in a supportive environment. Every middle school in District 191 is a STEA³M school with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, plus Arts, AVID and Advanced Learning.
Always part of the plan, an expansion of Burnsville Youth Collaborative programming to all three Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 middle schools has happened a little ahead of schedule.
The Rahn, Nicollet & Metcalf orchestra students invite you to their Winter Concert on Thursday, January 18th,at 7pm in the Metcalf Middle School Auditorium.
The concert will feature beginning and advanced students in 5th through 8th grade, who have been studying their instruments for 1 – 5 years. You will hear a variety of selections, including Serenata, Marching Along and Gargoyles. The students have been working very hard and are excited to share their music with you! We hope you can join us, even if just for a bit!
