The Blaze Burger is back, along with the partnership between Burnsville High School DECA and Burger Jones. The specialty burger will be available at the Burnsville Burger Jones throughout October, and for each one sold, DECA will earn $1. All proceeds go towards DECA student scholarships.

Thirty Burnsville High School students are moving on to the state DECA competition after participating at a district-level event in St. Paul on Jan. 5.
DECA is a leadership program that provides real-world experiences to prepare students for careers in finance, entrepreneurship, hospitality, marketing and management. Students in DECA-related classes, such as Introduction to Business and Marketing, Professional Sales and Marketing, and DECA Seminar, also have the opportunity to participate in competitive events that focus on demonstrating the skills they’ve learned.
Thirty-one Burnsville High School students competed at the 2017 Minnesota DECA State Career Development Conference (SCDC) on March 19-21 at the Minneapolis Hyatt Regency. This year's theme for the SCDC was "Own Your Future."

Sixty Burnsville High School students who are members of DECA recently competed in the District 2 Conference with their written projects, presentations and role-plays.
Twenty-nine of the students have qualified for the State DECA Conference in March with nearly 20 of them placing in the top third in their section event and receiving trophies. Many of the students qualified in multiple events.
As a class project, Burnsville High School students Bailey Kump and Emma Toomire worked with a local coffee shop to devise a unique mocha beverage and are now marketing their product at JoJo’s Rise & Wine. The drink will be available through Dec. 30 and every purchase will result in a $1 donation to #burnsvillestrong.
