The chess team from Metcalf Junior High in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 once again brought home several team and individual honors from the National Junior High Chess Championships, held April 15-17 in Indianapolis.
Teams from Metcalf Junior High in Burnsville and Harriet Bishop Elementary in Savage won state titles at the Minnesota State Scholastic Chess Championship, held March 19-20.
The annual chess tournament in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 will take place Saturday, Dec. 19, at Metcalf Junior High School, 2250 Diffley Road.
The event is open to children, kindergarten through grade 12. Registration is 8:20 to 8:40 a.m. and the tournament wraps up around 3:30 p.m. The entry fee is $18 (make out checks to Metcalf Chess Club).
Students from all 10 elementary schools in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 are invited to participate in the District 191 Elementary Chess Championships on Saturday, Dec. 20.
