District 191 students will graduate in four ceremonies

Commencement ceremonies will take place in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 with graduates receiving diplomas or equivalents from four schools. In response to health guidelines related to the coronavirus pandemic, all graduation ceremonies are being modified to help protect students, families and our community.

Students in the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage Transition (BEST) program will receive their diplomas individually on Tuesday, June 2 between 2 and 5 p.m. at River Ridge Education Center, 100 River Ridge Ct, Burnsville. Students will be assigned specific times and provided detailed instructions by the school.

Burnsville Alternative High School (BAHS) will host a virtual commencement ceremony, sharing recorded messages from student speakers and school staff, and each graduate will be recognized individually. The ceremony will premiere on the District 191 YouTube channel on Thursday, June 4 at 5 p.m. In addition, BAHS staff are making plans to present diplomas and mementos to students individually, though details are still being determined. Students should watch for specific information to come directly from the school.

Students graduating or receiving certificates through the District 191 Adult Education program will receive their cap and gown, certificates and have a photo opportunity during the week of May 18 at Diamondhead Education Center, 200 W. Burnsville Pkwy. On Thursday, June 4, a virtual commencement ceremony including individual recognition for students and staff comments will be broadcast at 6 p.m. on the District 191 YouTube channel.

At Burnsville High School, students will receive their cap and gown, diploma cover and official program on Thursday, May 28. A virtual commencement ceremony featuring messages from staff, student speakers, and individual recognition for all graduates will be broadcast at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 5 on the District 191 YouTube channel. In addition, pending health guidance from the state of Minnesota, a Class of 2020 gathering is being scheduled for early August.

Families and community members are encouraged to celebrate our graduates together by posting  pictures to social media using #One91Grads.
