Minnesota State High School League cancels spring athletics, activities season

In response to the executive order issued by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on April 23 to extend the Distance Learning period through the remainder of the 2019-20 school year, the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) has canceled spring athletics and activities for the remainder of their seasons.

Additional information, including refunds for athletics/activities, will be posted when the MSHSL provides further updates and modifications to Bylaw 208.

A message from Burnsville High School Director of Athletics Guillaume Paek:

It saddens me to share this news with you that the MSHSL has made the difficult decision to cancel the Spring Athletics and Activities Season. Attached you will find communications that have been sent by the MSHSL going through the specific guidelines to what this means. Please know that our thoughts are with your students. In particular, I would like to express my sincerest thoughts to our senior students whose spring season was taken from them. Please know that the MSHSL has been in constant communication with state Athletic and Activities Directors and this decision was not made lightly. I am confident that our community will get through this difficult time and will lift up those who lost out on opportunities to make those last memories on their respective competition arenas.
