Families invited to attend, provide feedback at attendance boundary info meetings

District 191 is creating new attendance boundaries for its schools as part of its Facilities Realignment work. The new boundaries, which will determine students’ “home” schools, are needed as the district will have two fewer elementary and one fewer middle school starting in the fall of 2020.

Families are invited to attend informational and feedback meetings scheduled for Jan. 13-15. Attendees will learn about attendance boundaries, why they are being changed, and the district’s goals for the process. The same information will be presented at each meeting, and the district will ask for feedback on the boundary options presented.

Meetings are scheduled for:

Monday, Jan. 13

  • 10 a.m. at Diamondhead Education Center, 200 W. Burnsville Pkwy., Burnsville

  • 6 p.m. at Diamondhead Education Center

Tuesday, Jan. 14

  • 6 p.m. at Diamondhead Education Center

Wednesday, Jan. 15

  • 10 a.m. at  Diamondhead Education Center

  • 6 p.m. at Burnsville High School, 600 E. Highway 13, Burnsville

Spanish and Somali interpreters will be available at all meetings.

Although there will be some discussion about variances (requests by parents for their student to attend a school other than their “home” school) will be handled, these meetings will not be about that process, which will be outlined in the next few weeks..
