The City of Savage will celebrate its fourth annual Service Day Saturday on April 13 with volunteer opportunities, family fun and community partnerships. Everyone is welcome to attend this free, fun experience for the whole family, held in honor of Global Youth Service Day and sponsored by the City of Savage and the Harriet Bishop Elementary Service Club.
Participants can visit Savage City Campus, located at the intersection of McColl Drive and Dakota Avenue in Savage, and engage in simple, hands on service projects such as repacking bulk bags of rice for a local food shelf, making fleece dog toys and blankets for an animal shelter, and many more.
The Red Cross will be hosting a blood drive at the event, with donation opportunities both in and outside City Hall. Register to donate by going to www.redcrossblood.org and search for the April 13 event at Savage City Hall.
Fun family activities at City Hall will include lunch with firefighters, ice-cream, art projects, face-painting, chair massages and more.
Organizers will be collecting non-perishable food items, gently-used shoes, children’s books, brown paper grocery bags and cash donations.
In 2018, participants donated more than 4,000 pounds of food to families in need, 2,000 lunch bags for Meals on Wheels, 2,000 books, and much more. Be part of our efforts to be Community Strong!
