The Burnsville High School Theater Guild announced this week that it received a $500 grant from the California Casualty music and arts grant program. The grant supplements the program’s budget to support theatrical productions.
“When budgets are tight, an extra boost like this can go a long way,” Director Amy Stead said. “We’re grateful for the support and I’m excited about what our students will be able to do this year, thanks in part to this grant.”
BHS is one of 13 arts and performance programs to benefit from the grant program. Awards ranged from $100 to $500, for a total of $5,000. Burnsville High received $500 to allow more students to participate in the thriving theater guild at the school.
The Burnsville High School Theatre Guild opens its 2017-18 season with “High School Musical” on Nov. 8. The season will also include “Akeelah and the Bee,” “Almost, Maine” and “Seussical the Musical.” For tickets, go to www.mrazcentertickets.com.
