Nicollet students can pick up Chromebooks, schedule at orientation Aug. 22

Nicollet Middle School students will be able to pick up their Chromebooks at orientation on Aug. 22 from 2-7 p.m., as District 191 expands its 1-to-1 personal learning device program to include grades 6-8 as part of Vision One91.

Middle school students will be getting the same model of Chromebook that high school students received last school year. They are lightweight, inexpensive devices that provide students access to the internet, their Google accounts and other web-based applications. The model being purchased includes a touch-screen along with a keyboard so it also acts as a tablet.

Other activities at Nicollet orientation include:

  • Schedule and planner pick up
  • Locker assignment. Students can also put their school supplies in their locker that day
  • Pictures
  • Students may purchase a Nicollet t-shirt for phyed
  • Families may bring lunch money to be deposited
  • Parents can sign up for ParentVUE if they have not signed up previously
  • 6th Grade students and their parents can attend a presentation called Movin' to the Middle from 6-7 p.m.
