Middle school students in District 191 will be able to pick up their Chromebooks at their schools in late August, as the district launches one-to-one learning devices for grades 6-8 as part of Vision One91.
At Nicollet, Metcalf and Eagle Ridge middle schools, Chromebooks will be handed out as part of the schools’ orientation events on the following schedule:
- Nicollet Middle School, Aug. 22, 2-7 p.m.
- Metcalf Middle School, Aug. 23, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
- Eagle Ridge Middle School, Aug. 24, Noon-8 p.m.
Middle school students will be getting the same model of Chromebook that high school students received last school year. They are lightweight, inexpensive devices that provide students access to the internet, their Google accounts and other web-based applications. The model being purchased includes a touch-screen along with a keyboard so it also acts as a tablet.
Students will also be able to pick up schedules and complete other tasks to get ready for the school year. For more details, students and parents can visit their school’s individual website.
