BHS winter concert series begins Friday, Dec. 16

Burnsville High School choirs and bands will perform at concerts in December in the Mraz Center for the Performing Arts, adjacent to the high school at 600 East Highway 13.

*UPDATE 12/16: The Burnsville High School choir concert scheduled for this evening is being rescheduled to Thursday, January 5 due to the current winter storm warning and expected significant snowfall event later this afternoon and through the evening. We want to ensure all of our singers are able to be at the concert as well as their family and friends. With weather conditions expected to deteriorate throughout the day, that is not possible. Our choir directors will be informing their students. Please make sure to put this new date on your calendar and invite family and friends.

Blaze Choir, Freshman Choir and FreeStyle will perform on Friday, Dec. 16 (See note above) at 6:30 p.m. Favorites such as "Carol of the Bells," "Jingle Bells" and more will be included in the set!

The 8 p.m. concert includes Bel Canto, FreeStyle and Concert Choir. Highlights for this concert will be "The Christmas Song," "Frosty the Snowman" and more holiday music. 

The bands will perform on Monday, Dec. 19 and Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. Wind Ensemble, Jazz and Blaze Bands, and the Symphonic Orchestra will perform on Monday while Freshman and Symphonic Bands, and the Blaze Orchestra will perform on Tuesday. Instrumental groups will perform a variety of concert band repertoire, as well as popular pieces like "Bare Necessities" from the Jungle Book, music from "Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Sleigh Ride."

Tickets are $3 and can be purchased at BHS in the main office beginning Wednesday, Dec. 14 or at the door on the night of the performance. In addition, the choirs and bands will be holding their annual holiday bake sale before, during and after the concerts on Dec. 19-20. 

Choir directors are Martha Schmidt and Erik Akervik and  band directors are Keith French and Molly Holmes.
