Neill students' food drive collects 574 pounds of food

On Nov. 10, Neill Elementary 4th and 5th graders put on a musical production of "Lets Eat!" It was a story about how kids are always hungry and always want to eat.

While rehearsing the play, the subject of having enough to eat came up, and the students, under the direction of music specialist Bonnie Tranby, decided to conduct a rood drive to benefit a local food shelf.

The drive lasted for 3 weeks. The challenge was to donate at least one food item for each student at Neill. With about 400 students at the school, that meant the challenge was 400 food items. In the end, the staff and students at Neill collected 566 items. The total weight was 574 pounds of food donated to 360 Communities.

Congratulations and thank you to our students, staff and community for showing your pride and compassion.
