BHS Open House slated for Wednesday, Aug. 31

We look forward to seeing you at our Open House tomorrow from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. We do apologize in advance for any inconveniences you may experience with limited parking availability and some areas of our building not being accessible as they are under construction. Please read all of the information below for details.

Burnsville High School's Open House is tomorrow, August 31, beginning at 4 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. Our open house format is designed to allow parents and students to come anytime from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. to find classrooms and lockers, meet teachers and pick up your Chromebook if you have not already done so . Additionally, our entire office area will be open with our counselors, nurse, dean, associate principals, other support staff, and clerical staff available to answer questions and help you. Food service personnel will also be available to assist with meal accounts, including depositing money. The school store will also be open.

There will be parking available in both the northeast parking lot by the tennis courts and the main front lot. Please enter the main front lot using the round-about on Portland. The parking lot is not striped so please be courteous of other guests and park responsibly. Additional parking is also available on portions of Riverwood Drive by the northeast parking lot and along portions of the frontage road.

If you park in the northeast parking lot by the tennis courts, please use the walking path around the north end of the stadium (by the large scoreboard) and enter through Door 27. Follow the arrows to the main office foyer where you will find the welcome table to pick up a map and a list of classrooms not accessible and where those teachers are located for the evening. If you park in the main front lot, enter Door 2.

Lockers are assigned automatically to all ninth and 10th grade students and by request only to 11th and 12th grade students. All lockers will be accessible at Open House to find and try out the combination.

If you were not able to pick up your student schedule at orientation last week, they will be available tomorrow at tables across from the main office. You can also check StudentVue for your schedule. Even if you picked up your schedule at orientation, please check StudentVue for any changes.

If you were not able to pick up your Chromebook at orientation last week, they will again be distributed tomorrow in the media center. Please remember you need both a copy of your schedule and your student ID from last year. If you do not have a student ID, you can have one made tomorrow in the main office.

Since we have teachers who will not be able to be in their classroom spaces tomorrow evening, there will be a sheet available at the welcome table outside of the main office with the location of these teachers so you are able to meet them if you choose. Also, there are some teachers who are unavailable tomorrow evening due to different circumstances.

There are classrooms not accessible tomorrow evening. They are listed below. At the entrance to these areas, we will have maps posted so you can locate where a classroom is even though you will not be able to access it.

A14, A15, and A16 (new gym area)

A24, A25, and A26 (new health classrooms)

A150 (new piano lab)

D120, D121, D123, and D124 (new science classrooms)

All E classrooms (new west addition)

All F, G, and H classrooms

We will have two parent information meetings tomorrow for you to attend to learn more about Burnsville High School. Both sessions are the same so you can attend either one. The sessions are completely optional. The first session is 4-4:30 p.m and the second session is 7:30 p.m.- 8 p.m.

Burnsville Community Television (BCTV) also wants to meet you! In conjunction with the Burnsville High School Open House, all Burnsville teachers, parents, students, residents, non-profits and School District officials are invited to stop by the BCTV Studio (located on the second floor of Burnsville High School) on Wednesday, August 31st from 4 to 8 p.m. Find out more about how BCTV can partner with students, teachers and the rest of the community to help you produce videos with our state of the art editing systems and high-definition cameras. For more information call Community Television Operations Specialist Tina Wilson at 952-641-1355. Also, stop by the BCTV mobile production truck parked in the front of the school tomorrow evening.
