Filing period set for School Board election

People interested in running for one of the three open seats on the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 Board of Education will be able to file for candidacy between Aug. 2 and Aug. 16, 2016.

The seats currently held by Sandy Mackall, Ron Hill and DeeDee Currier will be up for election, as their terms on the board end in January 2017. Terms of Board members are four years.

Affidavits of candidacy will be available from the school district clerk, located at Diamondhead Education Center, 200 West Burnsville Parkway, Burnsville, MN 55337. Enter through Door 3 on the south side of the building, upper level. 

The filing fee is $2. In order to file, a candidate must be an eligible voter, be at least 21 years old on assuming office, have been a resident of District 191 for 30 days before the election, and have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or general election.

Affidavits of candidacy must be filed with the district clerk by 5 p.m. on Aug. 16, 2016. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8. To follow election information, go to
