Metcalf theater presents original comedy ‘Triple Booked’

Metcalf Junior High theater students will present “Triple Booked,” an original play written by Metcalf teacher and drama director Steven Orth, at the school April 28-30. The play lovingly pays homage to the ridiculous, feel-good comedies of the 1980s with all of the jean-rolling, big-bangs-sporting, loud-music-chanting fun you remember.

In “Triple Booked,” the seniors at William Shatner High School couldn't be more excited to hold their senior prom at the all-new Enterprise Banquet and Celebration Center. The seniors at Sleepy Shores Estates for Slightly Older Adults couldn't be more excited for their high school reunion. Plus, there are the sixth-graders who are bursting at the seams with excitement for their own celebration for elementary-school graduation.

The only problem is that all three events are booked for the same night in the same place.

Performances are Thursday, April 28 and Friday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, April 30 at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Metcalf Junior High gymnasium, 2250 Diffley Road in Burnsville. Tickets are $7 at the door, but they an be purchased in advance through cast and crew members — or in the Metcalf main office — for $1 off.

In addition, a special dinner theater event will be held on Friday, April 29. For a $25 advance-only ticket, guests will enjoy a buffet dinner courtesy of Casper’s Cherokee of Eagan and a showing of “Before the Prom,” an original one-act comedy written by Burnsville High School junior Sarah Jasa. Dinner theater guests will also receive preferred seating to that night’s performance of “Triple Booked.”
