The Marion W. Savage Elementary School Service Club is asking students, parents and community members to support Brainpower in a Backpack through a food drive March 4 through March 24. Together, our donations will make a big difference in the lives of children right here in District 191.
Starting now and through conferences in March, bring in any of the following suggested food items. Donations can be dropped off right outside your classroom in the Brainpower Food Drive Box.
- Suggested donations items are: canned soups, canned vegetables, individually packaged fruit cups, juice boxes, oatmeal, breakfast bars, cereal, meals in box (Mac n Cheese)
The classroom that brings in the most food items will earn a sweet treat party in April.
WHAT IS BRAINPOWER IN A BACKPACK
BrainPower in a BackPack is a volunteer project of ISD 191 Community Education and Burnsville High School. Our high school students pack weekend food for elementary school students in ISD 191 whose families struggle to put enough food on the table. Because academic performance is related to nutrition, our goal is to improve the student learning experience for children with the greatest need in ISD 191. MWS currently has 65 students participating in the Brainpower program.
Bring in a non perishable food item today and support Brainpower and the MWS Service Club!
