BHS Chamber Orchestra makes music, lifts spirits at Children's Hospital

The Burnsville High School Chamber Orchestra performed for the families, patients and The Dude during the "Kids Clubhouse" show at Minneapolis' Children's Hospital on Wednesday, April 1, as part of its spring tour.

In its first year, the BHS Chamber Orchestra's tour included a master class and a small concert for the orchestra at Rahn Elementary, a concert for the entire school at Sioux Trail Elementary, a concert for the music department at Metcalf Junior High, and a performance in the Atrium at  the Children's Hospital in Minneapolis.

According to Children's Instagram feed, the halls of #Minneapolis "were alive with the sounds of #music Wednesday."

Along with musicians from the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, the BHS Chamber Orchestra gave an amazing performance in the atrium and their talents were appreciated by staff and patients alike.

"The students did an amazing job of performing and representing BHS with pride," said Orchestra Instructor Hope Grover. "The highlight of the day was watching the kids dance behind [BHS students] as parents and doctors stopped to watch and listen while they played ... they definitely brought joy to the faces of people everywhere they went."

The programs were sponsored by the Healing Arts Planning and Programming Committee.
