Pre-Kindergarten

We’ve adapted our prekindergarten model to fit the unique situation of this school year. We believe parents are a child’s first and most influential teacher. Our prekindergarten program partners with parents to provide early learning experiences, materials and parent support and information to set a strong foundation for your child’s preschool

Hybrid Learning

The Hybrid model offered at each elementary school includes:

  • Consistent in person schedules for children as part of the Prek-12 plan (M/T/TH/F).
  • Smaller class sizes with an average of 8 -10 students per classroom to allow for physical distancing while supporting socialization and conversation.
  • Shortened class time on in person learning days: 9-11:30 am or 12:30-3 pm with breakfast or snack served (no lunch meal service).
  • Health and safety education including handwashing, spacial awareness and mask wearing.
  • Personal supply kit at school (crayons, markers, glue, etc); Families are invited to purchase a supply kit for at home.
  • Frequent cleaning of high touch surfaces by staff along with sanitizing between morning and afternoon classes and at the end of each day.
  • At home learning opportunities and short, live family connection times (synchronous learning) on Wednesdays.
  • Should we shift to distance learning in the future, this gives your child (and you!) some practice in using home learning strategies and activities.
  • FREE virtual READY! For Kindergarten classes for parents and learning tools and materials for children provided three times per year.

Does my pre kindergartener need to wear a mask?

Real world COVID-19 readiness and skills will be embedded in our curriculum. This includes wearing a mask. For some children, this will be a learning experience that will be developed during our time together and will prepare them for the masking requirements when they turn five per the Governor’s Executive Order 20-81.

We encourage you to begin practicing mask wearing with your child. Here are some resources to help with this process.

One91 Virtual Academy

The Virtual Academy model offered includes:

  • A consistent schedule of Monday through Friday learning opportunities.
  • Short, daily, live connections (synchronous learning) between your pre-k student and their teacher on a district provided device.
    • Device pick-up will be on Tuesday, September 8. More information will be sent to you prior to that date.
  • A weekly PLAY plan that provides learning experiences in the areas of physical development, language and literacy, academic thinking and social emotional learning. Some experiences are designed to be completed with a parent or caregiver, and some may be done independently. Activities can be completed on your family’s own schedule and shared with your classroom teacher.
  • A monthly PLAY Pack that includes needed learning materials for the upcoming study. PLAY Packs can be obtained through curbside pick up on designated days or through transportation request if eligible.
  • FREE virtual READY! For Kindergarten classes for parents and learning tools and materials for children provided three times per year.
  • Enrollment in Virtual Academy is by semester. You may choose an alternate model (Hybrid, In Person, Virtual Academy) for the second semester and you will be assigned a seat in either AM or PM based on availability.
