Meet Superintendent Dr. Theresa Battle
Dr. Theresa Battle began her position as Superintendent of Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 on July 1, 2019.
Among other accomplishments during her time as superintendent, Dr. Battle has:
- Led redevelopment of the District's Strategic Roadmap to include a new vision, core values and strategic directions,
- Established a Strategic Dashboard to publicly share the district's progress on the district's most important achievement metrics,
- Taken a values-centered and strategic approach to budgeting, resulting in a much improved financial position and strong community support,
- Expanded the Pathways model to encompass everything from PreK to Grade 12,
- Led through a global pandemic with health- and community-centered approach, resulting in 92% of parents approving of the district's response to COVID in a spring 2022 survey,
- Engaged the community in a process to close three schools and redraw attendance boundaries due to declining enrollment, and led the management of those open facilities.
Dr. Battle’s previous experience includes district leadership roles in Minneapolis Public Schools and Osseo Public Schools, and most recently as assistant superintendent for St. Paul Public Schools. She started her career in education as a teacher and has also held leadership roles at the school building level and for curriculum and instruction. She holds a doctorate in education and masters of arts degree from the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Theresa Battle, superintendent of Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191, has been named the 2025 Polaris Leadership Award recipient by the Minnesota Association of School Administrators (MASA).
At the March 13 Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Theresa Battle announced her intent to retire on June 30, 2025, at the end of the 2024-25 school year.
October is designated as "Manufacturing Month" by the U.S. government and industry organizations across the country. It's a time to highlight the importance of an industry that employs nearly 13 million American workers and accounts for more than 10 percent of the country's gross domestic product.
