The Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District operates under a long-term Strategic Roadmap that provides the foundation for all district work. The priorities for the 2026-27 school year are built upon this roadmap, with specific initiatives and goals outlined in the annual budget and strategic plans to ensure continuous improvement and student success.

Guiding Strategic Directions

The following four strategic directions serve as the overarching goals for the district's work, including the 2026-27 school year:

Actively leading by developing and sustaining a diverse and equitable education system.

Supporting and leveraging new methods and original thinking to improve student outcomes and district culture.

Specific Priorities

The district's budget for the 2026-27 school year prioritizes the continuity of strong instruction and the maintenance of essential services. In addition, the district plans to make targeted investments in key areas to address student needs and long-term goals.

Glossary of Key Terms

Building-Level Initiatives: This is the work that takes place at the building and program level. It is often innovation work that will be studied and considered eventually moving towards standard implementation.

Continuous Improvement Work: Practices and structures currently embedded in day-to-day operations that require ongoing refinement to enhance effectiveness and impact.

District-Level Initiatives: New, adaptive work that requires shifts in learning, mindsets, and beliefs. These efforts often involve navigating complexity and uncertainty, and demand innovative approaches beyond current practice.

Technical Initiatives: Tasks that can be executed using existing knowledge, skills, and experience. These are typically straightforward, follow a linear process, and often involve updating or refining established protocols, processes, and systems
