Truth in Taxation hearing set for Dec. 14

District 191 residents will have the opportunity to comment on the district's proposed tax levy for 2024 as part of the annual Truth in Taxation meeting, scheduled for Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m.

Any resident who wishes to speak as part of the hearing must sign up to speak by the time the meeting starts or by calling the superintendent’s office in advance at 952-707-2005.

Property Tax Refund/Deferral Information

District 191 Levy for 2024 Information

After a significant increase in 2023 due to greater-than-expected enrollment, inflation and a one-time facility improvement project, the District is projecting a moderate levy increase of 4.01 percent in 2024. The increase is primarily driven by continuing inflation and higher-than-expected enrollment over the last two school years.  

The total proposed levy is $51.04 million, an increase of $1.97 million from 2023.

  • For several years, the district levy was flat or decreased.
  • Last year, due to inflation, higher-than-expected enrollment, and a one-time facility improvement project, the district levy saw a significant increase. 
  • Since 2019, the district levy has increased by a total of 15.4%, or an average of 3.5% per year.
