Superintendent Battle receives state educational leadership award

Dr. Theresa Battle, superintendent of Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191, has been named the 2025 Polaris Leadership Award recipient by the Minnesota Association of School Administrators (MASA).
The Polaris Leadership Award is given to an educational leader each year who demonstrates professional courage and has a legacy of excellent leadership, fostering of innovation, contribution through example and mentoring, and exemplary conduct in support of their district’s vision.
Dr. Battle is in her sixth year as superintendent of District 191, capping off a 40-year career as an educator, including as a teacher, principal, curriculum and instruction leader, and assistant superintendent. She graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelor of Science in special education. She also holds a Master of Arts in educational administration and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Minnesota.
MASA will present the Polaris Leadership Award to Dr. Battle at the organization’s fall conference in September 2025.
