Filing period for District 191 School Board of Education candidacy begins Aug. 2

The period for filing affidavits of candidacy for the office of school board member of Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 begins at 8 a.m. on Aug. 2 and closes at 5 p.m. on Aug. 16.

The general election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8. Four seats on the Board will be up for election, currently held by Abigail Alt, Lesley Chester, Scott Hume and Suad Said.

District 191 Board members are elected to four-year terms. Elections are held in even-numbered years, with three seats up for election in one cycle and four seats up for election in the other.

To be eligible to run for a seat on the District 191 Board of Education, you must be eligible to vote in Minnesota, at least 21 years of age, and a resident of District 191 for at least 30 days prior to the election.

Affidavits of candidacy are available at Diamondhead Education Center, located at 200 W. Burnsville Pkwy. in Burnsville. Affidavits must be filed in the office of the school district clerk, and the filing fee of $2 must be paid prior to 5 p.m. on Aug. 16.
