Families give District 191 high marks on annual survey

On topics around academics, safety, school culture and engagement, District 191 families gave the district and their children’s schools high and improving marks, according to a recent survey.

Ninety-two percent of participants said their family feels welcome at their child’s school, up from 91 percent in 2025, and 88 percent agreed that their schools provide a safe learning environment, up from 87 percent in 2025 and 80 percent just two years ago. The percentage of parents who said that students are treated fairly no matter their gender, race, sexual identity, language, disability or socio-economic background rose to 84 percent, up 2 points from 2025.

When it comes to academics, about 85 percent agreed with the statement “my child’s learning is preparing them for the next level,” up from 83 percent the year before, and 83 percent said they would recommend District 191 to others, which is up from 80 percent in 2025.

“For us to deliver on our mission, we have to start with every student and every family knowing they belong in our schools, and then we need to build high-quality educational experiences so students can find their paths and prepare for their futures,” said Superintendent Dr. Latanya Daniels. “Seeing that so many families are having that experience, and seeing these numbers move in a positive direction is truly heartening. It’s a testament to our staff and the entire One91 community.”

There were 651 responses to the 2026 Family Survey, which was conducted online during the months of February and March. More results can be found at www.isd191.org/survey
