Families give District 191 high marks on year-end survey

On topics around academics, safety, school culture and engagement, District 191 families gave the district and their children’s schools high praise according to a spring survey. 

More than 90 percent of participants said their family feels welcome at their child’s school, and 87 percent agreed that their schools provide a safe learning environment, a 7 point increase from a year ago. About 83 percent agreed with the statement “my child’s learning is preparing them for the next level,” up from 80 percent the year before, and 82 percent agreed that “my student sees themselves represented positively in the curriculum,” up from 77 percent in 2024. 

In terms of communication and engagement, 76 percent of respondents agreed that District 191 does a good job involving community leaders, parents and interested citizens in decisions about the schools, which is up from 63 percent in 2024. 

“We want every student and every family to have a positive experience in District 191 schools, and seeing these key metrics going in the right direction is a testament to the care and professionalism of staff in every classroom and school,” said Communication Director Aaron Tinklenberg, who presented survey results to the Board of Education at a June 26 meeting.  

There were 638 responses to the 2025 Family Survey, which was conducted online during the month of May. More results can be found at www.isd191.org/survey.
