Dr. Amy Loyd visits Burnsville High School to learn more about the school's Pathways model
- Pathways & Partnerships
Dr. Amy Loyd, assistant secretary of career, technical and adult education for the U.S. Department of Education visited Burnsville High School on Wednesday to learn more about the school's Pathways model, which is designed to help students find their passions, pursue career learning, and earn college credits and professional certifications without leaving the building. Along with a tour of computer programming, design and engineering, and healthcare classrooms, the visit included a discussion about how Pathways works at BHS and the partnerships that make the model possible.
A panel of BHS students shared their experiences with Pathways and how the school's opportunities have helped them find what they love and prepare for their futures. During the discussion, Dr. Loyd said she and the Department of Education are focused on developing policies that will help ensure more students have similar opportunities to those available at Burnsville High School.
