District receives clean financial audit

As part of its annual independent audit for the 2024-25 school year, Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 received an “unmodified” opinion and no internal control or compliance findings from the auditing firm that performed the review.

The result is the best evaluation an auditor can give, according to auditor Nancy Schulzetenberg, who presented her firm’s report at the Oct. 23 Board of Education meeting, and indicates that the district’s financial statements are fairly presented in all material respects.

The audit shows that total revenue in the General Fund, which supports learning, was $162.8 million. That was higher than expected by $1.7 million, or about 1%. Total General Fund spending was $158.9 million, which was under budget by about $500,000.

Schulzetenberg noted that both categories were very close to budgeted amounts, especially considering the uncertainties of state funding.

The entire report, along with other budget and finance information, is available on the district's website at www.isd191.org/discover/departments/finance
