District names Katie Ness as next Rahn Elementary principal

District 191 Superintendent Dr. Latanya Daniels announced that Katie Ness will be the next principal for Rahn Elementary School. 

Ms. Ness has been a valued member of the One91 staff for 12 years, serving in several leadership positions and previously as an elementary level teacher. Recently, as elementary curriculum coordinator, she led a successful process to choose a new K-5 literacy curriculum across the district, engaging teachers and principals to ensure the process was inclusive, thorough and reflected our community’s core values.

“Serving in both coaching and coordinating roles, she has tremendous experience and skill as an instructional leader and success in leading teams of educators through decision-making processes, including the recent selection of a new K-5 literacy curriculum,” said Dr. Daniels. “I’m confident that her knowledge of our community and strong relationships with colleagues throughout the district will help her succeed as principal at Rahn.”

Ms. Ness’s teaching experience includes time as a digital learning specialist and as a 5th grade teacher. She holds an Educational Specialist degree in educational leadership and master’s degree in literacy education. 

“I am honored to join the Rahn community and thrilled to welcome our students back to a fresh year of learning, where every child will be valued and challenged to grow,” Ms. Ness said. 

Ms. Ness was selected from a strong pool of candidates after multiple rounds of interviews that included school staff and parent representatives.
