District 191 communications team earns two national awards

The Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 communications department has received two national honors in the 2026 Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards presented by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).

The district’s Wayfinder magazine earned an Award of Merit for its Winter 2025 edition, which highlighted the programs, partnerships and educators who bring diversity and inclusion to life across District 191. The publication was produced through a collaboration between the District 191 communications team and CESO Communications.

In addition, a video showcasing the work of Mary Lopez, cultural liaison at Eagle Ridge Middle School, received an Honorable Mention award. The video was created in partnership with Captivate Media.

The projects were selected from hundreds of entries submitted by school districts and education organizations across the country. NSPRA’s Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards recognize outstanding publications, marketing and informational materials, multimedia programs, social media campaigns, websites and other communication initiatives.

District 191’s communications department includes Aaron Tinklenberg, director; Matt Steichen, coordinator; and Lisa Lake, specialist.

Since 1935, NSPRA has provided professional development, resources and services to school communication leaders throughout the United States and Canada. The association serves more than 2,500 members, primarily communication professionals working in public school districts and education organizations.
