Counties provide free library resources to Grade 6–12 students
All students in grades 6–12 have access to fine-free student public library cards through Dakota County and Scott County libraries.
This partnership means students can easily access library resources including online one-on-one homework help, research tools, e-books, audiobooks, movies/TV DVDs, music CDs, translation services, electronic magazines and print books.
Our middle and high school students have Chromebooks as personal learning devices, which means they can maximize the use of the public library’s resources. We hope this encourages students to read, research and explore their interests all year round.
The card can be used online and also in Dakota County and Scott County Library buildings. The cards will expire when students graduate from high school or leave the district.
Because students will have access to the entire public library collection, we encourage families to engage with the library resources their students may be using and have ongoing conversations about responsible use.
Contact your school's librarian to learn more about this resource.
