Burnsville High School teacher earns top educator award for dedication to students

Burnsville High School math and AVID teacher Jenna Gomer received the Carpenter Teacher of the Year Award for her dedication and commitment to students.

BestPrep, a non-profit organization that prepares students with business, career and financial literacy skills, recognizes one teacher each year who embodies the vision of BestPrep in honor of Joan Carpenter, who was a teacher in the Robbinsdale School District for more than 25 years.

“Jenna is an outstanding teacher and great educator who has partnered with us in so many ways to advance her classroom and strengthen her teaching,” said Bonnie Vagasky, BestPrep vice president of educational programs. “She stands out as her involvement with BestPrep spans most of our programs, including eMentors, Classroom Plus, Technology Integration Workshop, Minnesota Business Venture and so much more. Her dedication to the education of Burnsville and One91 students is enduring and admirable. Her commitment is unmatched.”

Gomer will receive her award at a virtual luncheon in October. The luncheon, which was initially slated for last May, will include business representatives, BestPrep board of directors, fellow educators and students.
