Apply for Educational Benefits for the 2022-23 school year
District 191 encourages families to submit applications for Educational Benefits
District 191 families are encouraged to apply for Educational Benefits to determine whether they are eligible for free/reduced meals, as well as other benefits such as discounts on athletics, activities and internet, for the 2022-23 school year. School meals will no longer be free for all students as they were during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years.
Qualifying for benefits helps support your child’s school, too. The number of families that qualify for those benefits determines some of the funding that is provided to schools. This funding is specifically used to provide student supports, including additional teaching positions which can lower class sizes, interventionists and other specialist type teachers, and paraprofessionals.
Paper applications are currently available at the district office and will be available at schools starting in August. Families that qualified in the past must re-apply each year.
If you have already received a letter from District 191 stating that you have been ‘Directly Certified’ for the 2022-23 school year, you do not need to apply. However, if you have a child that is not listed in the letter you received, please let us know.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please email Amy Terwilliger at firstname.lastname@example.org.
