Alternate parking, traffic plans go into effect at Diamondhead Sept. 16

Due to construction of a residential building located on the site of the southeast parking lot at Diamondhead Education Center, alternate plans for staff and visitor parking and pick-up routes will go into effect on Monday, Sept. 16.

Beginning Monday, Sept. 16:

  • The southeast parking lot (intersection of Pillsbury Ave. and Burnsville Pkwy.) will be closed.
  • Sections of the parking lots closest to Door 1 (main entrance), Door 3 (ECSE) and Door 11 (lower level, Community Education) will be reserved for visitors, Adult Basic Education students and seniors.
  • Parking lots on the west side of Diamondhead, and outer sections of the other parking lots will be reserved for staff members.
  • All traffic on the south side of Diamondhead will be one way from Pillsbury Ave. (east side) to Pleasant Ave. (west side) during construction.
  • During student pick-up times, parents and buses will follow designated routes to help keep traffic separate and safe. Parents will turn north on Pleasant Ave. as they leave, while buses will turn south on Pleasant Ave.
  • Additional parking is also available in the Heart of the City ramp east of Pillsbury Ave. Please be cautious walking to Diamondhead.

Construction begins on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
