Academic calendar set for 2026-27
The District 191 Board of Education adopted the academic calendar for 2026-27 at its Sept. 25 meeting.
Because Labor Day falls on the latest day possible in 2026, the school year will start before the holiday on Monday, Aug. 31, with the first week being just four days to provide a four-day weekend over Labor Day. The start date keeps the 2026 summer break at a typical length of 87 days and ensures the school year ends during the first week of June, as usual.
The adopted calendar includes a total of 170 school days. Major breaks include a fall break from Oct. 12-16, a winter break from Dec. 24 to Jan. 3, and spring break March 29-April 2.
