87 Burnsville students receive National Community Service Impact Awards

Eighty-seven Burnsville High School students have received National Community Service Impact Awards from the United Nations Association (UNA) in recognition of their commitment to community service.

The National Community Service Awards celebrate student community service activities that advance the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. This year, students received additional recognition for working toward a world of Zero Hunger and Zero Waste.

Additionally, schools with a collective student impact above 2,000 hours of service, the equivalent of a full time employee, are recognized with a School Impact Award. Burnsville High School students invested over 9,000 hours in community needs, earning the Emerald Award.

“Through their efforts, students from Burnsville High School made meaningful contributions to Quality Education, demonstrating how local action drives global progress,” the UNA said in a press release.

87 BHS students won community service awards

The three-tier individual award program recognizes levels of sustained impact: Merit (40 hours of community service), Honor (60 hours), and Ambassador (100+ hours) of service during the school year, along with special recognition for efforts addressing Zero Hunger and Zero Waste.
