Attendance during Distance Learning

Teachers will be expected to provide new lessons and activities each week. Student instruction days will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday with Wednesday as a student work day. Teachers will be available by email, phone or online 8:15AM - 11:30AM and 1:15PM - 4:00PM on those days. Wednesdays will be a time for students to work on assignments, complete independent practice, or work on projects. Teachers will be attending grade level and content areas meetings and professional development on Wednesdays.

The Minnesota Department of Education requires that attendance be taken daily. In order to consider “in attendance,” students are expected to interact and respond to their teachers everyday. This may include any of the following:

  • Online form, question, survey
  • Chat participation (directly with teacher or as part of a teacher facilitated group chat)
  • Email
  • Voicemail
  • Video meeting

Attendance is not based on assignment completion. Families will be contacted if students do not complete the check ins.

Grades K-5

  • Check in each day, Monday-Friday
    • Art, Music, and Physical Education will check in once a week
  • Teachers will provide specific check ins for each day of class
  • Students need to complete the check in by 11:59 pm or be counted absent for the day
  • If a student is ill and cannot attend to complete the check ins, please call the school attendance line to report the absence

Middle School and High School

  • Students will check in to the Schoology course “Attendance” daily (M-F) by 11:59PM.
  • This will mark them as present for the whole day. The student will be marked as absent if the check in is not completed.
  • If a student is ill and cannot attend to complete the check ins, please call the school attendance line to report the absence
