Art teacher receives Inclusive Practices Award in District 191

Art is a universal language that everyone can understand and all students are artists, according to art teacher Kelly Rae Vo.

Vo’s inclusive classroom and instructional practices have resulted in her being named as the recipient of the Inclusive Education Practices Award for the 2017-18 school year in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191, according to Stephanie White, the district’s director of student services.

Gideon Pond reader leader will be honored at Twins game

Fourth-grader Nabiil Ibrahim loves to read.

That’s one reason why Nabiil came to mind when Gideon Pond Elementary School Principal Chris Bellmont was asked by the Minnesota Twins to nominate a student to be honored during a game on June 5.

The Twins will spotlight students who embody attributes of literacy, courage and leadership. All three attributes apply to Nabiil, said Bellmont.
