'Interim' tag removed, Mr. Nepsund will just be 'Principal'
At their April 4 meeting, members of the District 191 Board of Education approved a recommendation to remove the "interim" tag from Jeff Nepsund's title at M.W. Savage Elementary. Nepsund will officially be principal as of July 1, 2013.
Nepsund was a longtime elementary teacher and held several leadership positions in District 191 before being named interim principal at M.W. Savage before the start of the 2012-13 school year.
"I am grateful and thankful to district administration, the staff and families at MWS, and my family for the tremendous support and encouragement I have been shown during these interim months," said Nepsund. "I feel blessed and fortunate to call Marion W. Savage Elementary School my 'career home'."

Welcome to MWS!
Marion W. Savage Elementary • 4819 West 126th Street • Savage, MN 55378
M.W. Savage among schools lauded under new state measurements Marion W. Savage Elementary was one of three schools in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 that had something special to celebrate as the new school year kicked off this week. MWS was recognized as a "Reward" school under the state's new measurement of school performance called Multiple Measurements Rating (MMR). The designation means the school ranked in the top 15 percent of Minnesota elementary schools that receive Title 1 federal funding.
Under a federal waiver, Minnesota schools are no longer rated based only on the percentage of students making proficiency targets as they were under No Child Left Behind. Instead, the MMR includes student proficiency, growth in student achievement, and reduction in the achievement gap to rate a school's progress.
