Library offers summer reading program

Studies show that kids who don't read regularly over the summer often read at a lower level when they return to school in the fall.

To help keep that from happening, the Scott County Library system is offering a free and easy reading incentive program for kids of all ages.

Sixth grader's science acumen earns awards,
trip to international science conference

Sofia Feller loves science -- math and reading, too -- but especially science and it shows.

The sixth-grade student at Harriet Bishop Gifted & Talented Elementary School in Savage was "wildly successful" at the 2012 South Central/Southwest Minnesota Regional Science and Engineering Fair hosted by Minnesota State University in Mankato, according to Cheri Warmka, the school's science specialist.

featured at Savage City Hall

Harriet Bishop student art work will be on display at Savage City Hall from May 1 through May 31. Stop in between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, to see a selection of works that represent the artistic talent coming out of our Harriet Bishop art room!
