Library offers summer reading program
 Studies show that kids who don't read regularly over the summer often read at a lower level when they return to school in the fall. To help keep that from happening, the Scott County Library system is offering a free and easy reading incentive program for kids of all ages.

The EDGE summer program
Students in grades 6 through 9 can participate in The EDGE, a supervised summer program, offered by Community Education in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191. Students in the program will engage in fun activities, including field trips to destinations including ValleyFair, Minnesota Twins games, beaches and much more.
The EDGE is a unique program in the south metro area for this age group, and students from all school districts are invited to attend.

Eagle Ridge teacher Joe Meyer one of 10 finalists for state Teacher of the Year
RECENT NEWS: Meyer receives Fox 9 Top Teacher Award
Joe Meyer, a language arts teacher at Eagle Ridge Junior High, is among 10 teachers from across the state named as finalists in the 2012 Minnesota Teacher of the Year program. A selection panel of 22 leaders in the areas of education, business, government and non-profits selected the finalists from a group of 34 semifinalists. There were 111 Teacher of the Year candidates for this program year. This year's honoree will be announced on May 6. Meyer began teaching in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 in 1992 as a substitute at Cedar Alternative Education Center. He also worked as a teacher for the Peace Corps for two years. In 2011, he was named the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 Teacher of the Year by the Burnsville Education Association.
