Looking for a meaningful way to spend your day? Look no further. Volunteering at Rahn is a great way to spend your day! So if you are looking for your next opportunity, look below and follow the links if you would like to sign up! If you have any questions please contact Amber Christman, Volunteer Coordinator, firstname.lastname@example.org
All of your hours count- in so many ways, and we like to keep track of the amount of volunteer hours going into our school, so please remember to log your volunteer hours! You can log them here at this link: Volunteer Log
Every Tuesday a volunteer message goes out via school messenger with our most up to date volunteer needs. This will include all the sign-up links. Please check in with the office to make sure you are receiving these messages, and all other school messenger messages.

Child Care Opportunities
Parent information nights are an important part of our school's growth and community building. It is important for as many parents as possible to be able to attend these events. That is why we ask for occasional childcare. This is an ongoing sign-up looking for childcare for some of our information nights. If you are interested in helping out with childcare at any of our events, please sign up here: Child Care
The media center is looking for a few volunteers who would be able to drop in as your schedule allows, to help organize the library, and maybe do a monthly bulletin board! If you are interested in helping out in the media center please sign up here: Media Center
Brain Power Pick Up:
Brain Power in a Backpack is a volunteer project of ISD 191 Community Education and Burnsville High School. Our high school students pack weekend food for elementary students in ISD 191 whose families struggle to put enough food on the table. Since academic performance is related to nutrition, our goal is to improve the learning experience for children by providing them with some extra food for the weekends. We are looking for volunteers to pick up the food at the high school on Thursdays after high school and bring it back to Rahn. If you are interested in helping for any of the Thursdays, please sign up here: Brain Power
Being Blaze at our Character Counts events and other events throughout the school year is a very rewarding experience. The kids love to see Blaze and it is lots of fun to dress up! If you are interested in being Blaze please sign up here: Blaze
The PTO’s annual carnival is fast approaching! This is a huge event that requires over a hundred volunteers to make all of the games run smoothly. If you are interested in helping out with the carnival, sign up here. Be sure to sign up right away to get the games you would like to be in charge of! Carnival
Art Adventure is a program that allows kids to experience artworks from the Minneapolis Institute of Art’s collection through the use of reproductions, technology, and hands-on props. The Art Adventure program promotes creativity, critical thinking, and an understanding of different cultures and time periods. The combination of volunteers and training provided by MIA makes this an amazing educational opportunity that the students really enjoy!Several volunteers are needed to make this program a success! No experience is necessary to be a “Picture Person” in the Art Adventure program. MIA provides all of the training, information packets, and props. If you would like to be a Picture Person, you must…
-Attend a single training session at MIA (training session is approx. 2-hrs)
-Meet with other volunteers prior to class presentations
-Be available to present to classrooms during the school day (you do not have to be available every day of the week or even a whole school day, but the more flexibility the better)
Rahn Yearbook -- Order yours today!
This year, the yearbook will be in FULL COLOR and will feature the Top 5 winners of our cover contest! First place will get the front cover and the next 4 runners up will share the back cover. Yearbooks will be delivered to the students the last week of school. Yearbooks are $15 cash or check (payable to Rahn PTO) or you may order online here:
Yearbook Order Form Enter Rahn’s Yearbook ID code: 8354418
You may add a donation to your online order or send your donation, in an envelope, to school labeled “Attn: Yearbook” with a note inside saying that the money is a yearbook donation. Please specify if you would like your donation to go to a certain class or grade level. If no designation is made, the donation will go to a general fund for all students.
Rahn Yearbook Pictures -- Calling on our school photographers!
Did you capture some great photos at an assembly, on a field trip, or in the classroom? The yearbook relies on our Rahn community to help us capture all those wonderful memories. Please consider sharing your photos with the yearbook by uploading them using the Community Upload link below. You will be asked to enter your name, email and to create a password.
Community.lifetouch.com Enter the code: DXTLXN
Remember all photos must be full resolution (some phones may say “Original Size”) but no larger than 10 MB. While traditional cameras typically have the best results for printing, many cell phones now have greatly improved the quality of their camera and can also be used. Please include a label with your photo (example: 3rd grade party, Band Concert, Student Council, Character Counts, etc). Note: photos that are too small of a file size (typically under 2 MB) cannot be used, as they are too pixelated for printing.
The community upload folder can only hold 60 images, at a time and needs to be emptied by a yearbook volunteer, on a routine basis. If the folder is full, please, try your upload again at a later date. Upload only your very best images and typically only a few from any one event. While every effort is made to include as many photos as possible in the yearbook, it will be determined by the yearbook staff which photos will be in the final book.

The Yearbook needs your help! Creating the Rahn Yearbook is a very big job made up of many small tasks. While we are always looking for photographers to help capture all the events that happen at Rahn, we are also in need of people to help work online to build the pages and organize photos, help with the Yearbook Cover Contest, help with Lifetouch picture days, and selling the books the last week of school. Some tasks require people to be at the school, while others can be done at home, on your computer. If you are interested in volunteering with the yearbook please contact the Yearbook Advisor, Joey Pederson at email@example.com .
Looking to help out, but unable to give your time? Rahn Elementary PTO would love to receive your donation at GiveMN.org. Remember every little bit counts! What better way to ‘ignite generosity and grow giving’? GiveMN Rahn PTO

Important Update: This year in order to comply with district policies, as a new security measure, we are going to need parents volunteering with students one on one, or in small group settings and parents going on field trips to complete a background check. The cost will be covered and you will only need to complete it once, then we will have you on file. So if you are planning to volunteer please take a quick moment to complete this document Background Check Document and return it to the school. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Amber Christman.
