Hello Harriet Bishop parents/guardians, students, staff, and community members!
I am so excited to have the opportunity to work alongside all of you this upcoming school year. This page gives me a chance to introduce myself, as well as our family to all of you. My name is Ken Essay and my passion and purpose is working with individuals to help us find and embrace our strengths through this journey we call K-12 education.
Prior to becoming the Principal at Harriet Bishop, I have served in a variety of roles in public education; I was an elementary/high school physical education & health teacher and coached hockey for 12 years at Mankato West High School, I was also the High School Activities Director at West for 4 years, then my last stop was Assistant Principal at Dakota Meadows Middle School in North Mankato.
Early in my educational career I met and married my beautiful wife, Gabrielle. We have been married for 14 years and have 3 amazing children, Owen (12), Toby (12- Twins), and Annie (7). Gabrielle is currently an independent business owner at a Gymnastics Facility in Mankato (K&G Gymnastics). Our family enjoys being active in the outdoors, attending sporting events, playing cards and board games, and spending time with our friends, neighbors, and family members. Our family is very excited to be a part of the One91 community!
As the principal of Harriet Bishop Elementary School, I am committed to furthering our district’s mission to empower learners, energize achievement, embrace community, and ensure that each student is Real-World-Ready. I believe that we can close gaps and raise achievement for all students! I am a strong believer in building positive interpersonal relationships, working as a collaborative member of a team, and above all, doing what is best for all students and families. I look forward to working in partnership with our entire community to ensure our students have a high quality educational experience and access to resources that will foster their personal, social, and academic growth.
Please do not hesitate to contact me throughout the year at (952)707-3901 or firstname.lastname@example.org if there is anything I can do to help.
