Burnsville Alternative High School has a full-time licensed school nurse who is available from 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. to care for the health needs of students while at school.
First-aid care is given for minor accidents. Parents will be notified in case of major accidents or illnesses. The school nurse is not able to provide doctor's care, if a student is injured at home or is ill, the parent/guardian should take the student to a regular clinic or physician.
Inform the school nurse of any specific health conditions your student may have. This is extremely important in planning for an optimal learning environment for your son/daughter. More information on Individual Health Plans
Emergency contact forms are needed on every student to facilitate appropriate care for students who become ill or are injured at school. These forms will be filled out at intake or within the first week of the school year. Download Health Forms
The health office does not supply any medications for students. Any medications brought to school must come in the original container. All medication requires a parent signature and a signature from a person licensed to prescribe medication (Examples include: Certified Nurse Practitioner and Physician).
