I am thrilled to be part of the M. W. Savage Elementary School community. The MWS staff has a reputation for meeting the unique academic and social needs of each student. I am proud to work with staff members who believe in academic excellence and high expectations for student achievement. Together, we will continue to teach foundational elements and develop our students’ citizenship skills.
The MWS staff and I strive to build partnerships with parents and the community. Parent involvement is critical to the educational success of adolescents both at school and home. I hope that you will have the opportunity to attend our school events and volunteer in our building.
After one year in another school district, I came to Eagle Ridge Middle School where I primarily taught world language and social studies. I was a Dean of Students and an Associate Principal at Eagle Ridge before becoming the principal of Nicollet Junior High/ Middle School in 2009. At Nicollet, we started the district AVID program and in 5 years became a National Demonstration School. We increased our test scores three years in a row using a schoolwide reading initiative that used AVID instructional strategies for all students. In 2015 and 2016, Nicollet was named a PBIS Exemplary School by the Minnesota Department Education. I also led Nicollet through the change from a junior high configuration to a research-based middle school model, which focuses on relationships and academic success for each child.
The MWS staff and community aim to give your child the best educational opportunity we can every day. We are dedicated to delivering rigorous curriculum through strategic instruction in a respectful environment.
