Sioux Trail Elementary School in Burnsville has been named a Minnesota School of Excellence by the Minnesota Elementary School Principals' Association (MESPA), one of only eight schools to receive the honor.
In making the announcement, MESPA cited Sioux Trail's commitment to 21st century teaching and learning. Sioux Trail has been a leader in implementing District 191's work to become a Culturally Proficient School System (CPSS), which supports personalized learning. The school won a Local Government Innovation Award from the University of Minnesota Humphrey Institute for its CPSS work and success last year. Sioux Trail has also celebrated significant growth in student proficiency as measured by state standardized tests.
"We are so honored to receive this validation at this time and know this process has supported our efforts to meet every learners’ needs at Sioux Trail Elementary," said Sioux Trail Principal Shannon McParland. "I am so proud of our entire community and the work we do together! Thank you to our community and District 191 leadership for their support.”
