Bowls for BrainPower, previously known as Empty Bowls for Full Bellies, is set for April 23 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Campus Cup Café at Diamondhead Education Center, 200 W. Burnsville Pkwy. in Burnsville.
Nominations are now open for the 2015 John Coskran Volunteer Award, presented annually in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191. The award honors extraordinary volunteers who give of their time and talents to enhance students’ educational experience and achievement, and/or demonstrate the importance of volunteerism and good citizenship.
Two extraordinary student volunteers were recently named local honorees to represent Burnsville High School for the 2015 Prudential Spirit of Community Award.

It’s just a patch of black dirt right now, a place where you might think the sod needs to be replaced. But the grassless patch is special both because of the work students have and will put into it and for the food that will eventually come out of it.
