Art teacher receives Inclusive Practices Award in District 191

Art is a universal language that everyone can understand and all students are artists, according to art teacher Kelly Rae Vo.

Vo’s inclusive classroom and instructional practices have resulted in her being named as the recipient of the Inclusive Education Practices Award for the 2017-18 school year in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191, according to Stephanie White, the district’s director of student services.

Nominations sought for 7th Annual Inclusive Education Practices Award

Nominations are being sought for the 2018 Inclusive Education Practices Award to recognize outstanding school staff members whose work ensures students with all abilities have inclusive education opportunities in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191.

The award was created by the district's Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC), which is comprised of parents, community members, school staff and administrators. The group advises the special education department on policy and program planning.

School transitions information night for parents of special education students is Nov. 7

Parents of students receiving Special Education services in District 191 who will be entering Kindergarten, 6th or 9th grades, and post-secondary programs and services during the 2017-2018 school year are invited to attend a meeting Nov. 7 on "School Transitions and Planning Successful Changes."
